 2018 Preview 


       Good Hope completed the 2017 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Good Hope finished seventh in Class 4A region six with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Raiders would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-16 record. Since 2010, the Good Hope football program has struggled with a record of 23-58.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Good Hope has managed to compile a record of 126-134. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 33rd in Class 4A and 209th in the AHSAA.




       The Raiders are led by head coach Alan Scott who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 7-23 over the past three seasons at Good Hope. The Raiders have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Scott.

       Coach Scott's overall record as a head football coach in seven season stands at 25-46 (35.2%). Over the course of his career, Coach Scott's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times .

       The Good Hope Raiders will play in Class 4A region five during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Raiders remain in 4A but move from region six over to region five.

       This season, the Raiders will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region five.

       The Raiders open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Carbon Hill on Friday, August 24 at G.W. Keith Stadium. Last year the Carbon Hill Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in seventh place in Class 3A region four. The Bulldogs ended last season on a positive note with a win over Curry by a score of 44-21 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       Good Hope and Carbon Hill have met a total of 8 times on the football field. The Raiders have a 8-0-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2009 with Good Hope winning by a score of 42-19.

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

In 1925 Langdale tied a record by defeating Milltown 125-0. Hamilton had set the record by thrashing Fayette 125-0 in 1915.
